Whilst me and my partner, Carolina Vasquez, have been working closely with the LGBT community of Swansea over the last few months for 'A Queer Christmas' we felt the need to make an It Gets Better Project™ video- one that inspires and supports young LGBT people in Wales. And so we invited LGBT theatre practitioners in Wales to spare an hour of their time to share their…See More

A Queer Christmas- Part 2

So we're now four weeks into the second stage of the project which are the queer community workshops. The sign-up was great and we were able to get participants for all workshops so it kicked off with a positive bang- the choir started learning their first Christmas song, the acting group started to improv, the writing group started creating characters and thinking of narratives, the filmmakers got straight into filming, dancers are dancing and artists are creating! There was a little dip in week…See More

Hopefully these blogs can open up into discussions and debates on collaborations between theatre companies and community. So, my aim is to create a promenade theatre production on Swansea High St that will celebrate queer life over the…See More

A glimpse of what we created.

I was up in North wales for three months this summer creating, writing and directing an immersive promenade theatre production for Theatr Genedlaethol. It was called 'Blodyn' and it was a modern day version of Blodeuwedd's story. I worked very closely with two communities- the village of Talysarn and the town of Balenau Ffestiniog. The purpose of the project was to get their voices heard on a creative stage, to be able to show what living and surviving in these communities was like today. And…See More

Thank you very much! My beautifully-packed bottle of Rioja (mmm!) arrived. I am a happy man.

Good luck!

No, I'm not there on Thursday but then, neither am I worried. After all, fine wine only improves with age doesn't it? Rather like directors, in fact.

I am in Cardiff at the 6.30pm Paines Plough workshop this Wednesday (30th) if that's helpful.

Hope this is your inbox, Bethan. Not totally sure how to navigate this site.

Anyway, thanks for the prize though I hardly think my effort deserved recognition. I must say that red wine would be my choice but I may be a bit too far for a personal visit, nice though that would be. I did live in Knighton until last year but now I live just over the border near Bishop's Castle. My address is Avenue Lodge, Linley, Bishop's Castle, SY9 5DT. Phone 01588 650780

Best wishes,

Mick
