What I do:
Communications Director, National Theatre Wales
A little more about me:
How long long do you sit in a traffic jam before you decide to take an alternative route? Most people are content with staying put on the highway, happy with the familiarity of the long straight, better than the unpredictability and uncertainty of a new route. I have always followed the road less travelled, breaking traditions, boundaries, rules, conventions in the delivery of exciting projects and campaigns. Get out of the traffic jam!

Going out with a bang on November 5th... Goodbye National Theatre Wales

Dear friends,

As Head of Communication for National Theatre Wales I am writing this post to let you know that I will be leaving the organisation at the end of this week on 5th November 2016.

We launched the first season of work with a live webcast on the same date…

Snowdon - Wales is a wonder...

Somebody sent me this great photo of Wales from outer space i really love how you can see all of the landscape, valleys and mountains. You can see how impassable mid-wales can be and why the roads twist and turn.

You can also see how easy it is to be up a mountain, on a beach or walking in a forest...National Theatre Wales…

How to stay a Pirate - Six years ago on November 5th we launched our very first season of work.

When I meet people working in theatre or the creative industry they often ask me what it's like working for National Theatre Wales and I tell them that NTW gives you the opportunity to be a Pirate.

What I mean by this is that the organisation allows you to take risks, to challenge the status quo, to hijack and steal ideas, to be light, adaptable and to change the course of the ship.

Today marks six years that a bunch of pirates launched the…

Could you be a Promoter for Tonypandemonium ?

Do you know the Rhondda like no one else ?

National Theatre Wales want to work with you this Sept/Oct. We’re in Treorchy for the whole of October with our show “Tonypandemonium” handmade at the Park and Dare Theatre.

We have loads of opportunities to get involved with National Theatre Wales and to play your part. We need someone who can shout loud enough so that everyone knows whats up and has a chance to get involved, but we need your local knowledge…

The Do Lectures - Ideas Change Everything

I have been asked to write a post about the 'Do Lectures' which I attended last weekend. Normally I would shy away from such things as I am not much of a writer, my grammer is bad and my spelling even worse so apologies in advance. I am going to keep it pretty short, 5 simple points and a few photos as that will help pad it out.

1. The Do Lectures - Talks that inspire action

The Do Lectures is an annual event that takes place…

Hi Matt,

I was wondering if I could pick your brains about press/PR agencies/freelancers? Do NTW use them? Or is all your PR done in house?

Would be amazing if you have time for a quick chat

My number's 01872 267910

Cheers,

You know - I always compare my path in life to the wiggly line ... and I'm happy with where intuition, happy accident, dogged determination and a willingness to take note of serendipity has taken me. A case in point - just returned from a trip to Sweden where I met some inspirational folks - a meeting which probably result in another twist in my tale. And that is what makes life rich and exciting!

Hi Mat. Good to see you've joined the network. As Catherine mentions, the Hide and Seek Sandpit might be something right up your street. If you'd like to pop in at some point for a chat too, just let us know. J

Hello Matt the Hat! Great to see you on here and welcome to National Theatre Wales! Have you seen our Sandpit event on 2 July? It sounds like your kind of thing and Carl Morris suggested that you would know all the right sort of people that could come along to this event? It's an evening of social gaming; theatre meets games meets fun times in public places. Interested in coming along? I'd love to see you there. Also, wanted to say that I saw your band at The Globe on last bank holiday weekend and loved the whole event; the band, the rappers, the burlesque, the video, the very well priced beer! Thank you for organising such a fantastic small weekend! x
