WalesLab information

WalesLab was NTW's initiative for supporting emerging artists and new ideas for performance. This is a group and discussion forum for those artists involved in WalesLab or those interested in learning more about the various projects under development.

WalesLab consisted of:

Summercamp:

A summer camp for up to twenty theatre makers and artists of varied experience to share ideas, learn form each other and stimulate new collaborations and projects (watch the video below to find out more).

WalesLab projects -

Small groups working for around 1-2 weeks based somewhere in Wales.

Germinate:    Three times a year small groups of artists will be offered the opportunity to spend around two weeks somewhere in Wales developing an idea or project which they have already begun working on, and will share their work with a local audience. There will be three Germinate projects a year, one of which will have an international element.

WalesLab is no longer open for new submissions. Have a look at the 'Your Work' page on the NTW website to find out about how to share your ideas with the company.

Comment by Gavin Porter on August 27, 2013 at 23:29

Hi all, Tanja Beer is coming to NTW's office on 10th September at 4pm to talk about her work and we would like to invite people on the NTW community to attend.

Tanja is currently conducting a PhD on Ecological Design for Performance and working on a couple of projects in Wales as part of the World Stage Design Congress (WSD).

The show Tanja working on is called the Trans-Plantable "Living" Room which will feature plants growing out of household items: a kind of "Alice in Wonderland tea party" meets "Where the Wild Things Are" in collaboration with the Riverside Community Garden in Cardiff. It’s based on a project Tanja did in Australia, called The Living Stage (Sarah Jane Leigh is working with us on PR for Cardiff).

Tanja is also talking about ecological design on a panel with Julies Bicycle and conducting a workshop around the aesthetics of eco-scenography.

Anyone interested in attending please ask them to contact me.

Hello - I've just posted a blog about Likely Story's experience of getting started with Wales Lab, you can find it here http://community.nationaltheatrewales.org/profiles/blogs/likely-sto...

okay here goes..this was a film that I did earlier this year. It is a docu drama and hopes to be entertaining as well as raising a serious point about Veterans struggling with PTSD and integrating themselves back into our communities.

I've have had positive feedback from friends but they are 'friends' after all. let know what you think......Nigel

@Nigel - No reason i can think of for why you shouldn't put your films on here to invite feedback. SOunds like a great idea!

There's also the Creative's group who might have some other interesting thoughts.

Looking forward to seeing what you've been working on.

Cheers!
