Writing my current play I have had to revisit my past as I am writing something of what 'I know' (first rule of writing). Its certainly revealed things I had long forgotten and also churned up some buried emotions from things I have witnessed in my youth.
I had forgotten the villagers pride, I'd forgotten their embarrassment, I'm forgotten how Thatcher was a dirty word. I'd forgotten that this wasn't just an 80's issue...that since the mines opened there has always been fear,…

Adding to my last blog,
Today the Alajotas and Urban Ink shared practice with welsh and african artists. Bragod - Robert Evans playing ancient and medieval instruments including the Lyre and Mary Anne Roberts (Trinidad) singing welsh poetry from the 6th Century proved to be an awe-inspiring workshop.
The performance with the Canadian and Nigerian Team showing their individual journey through their personal legacy will be performed at 8pm this wednesday at…

They have specifically come together to learn from each others practice and see how each 'contact' their ancestors to inform the present through ritual,…

New Play based on real events

Something strange happened last night,
I went out into Bridgend. (This only happens once a year now - and that is an experience I tell you).
I went to Bridgend to watch a play and I watched a 'play' in a club.
I sat in the audience and took in this surreal moment and then a big smile came across my face and thought 'This is actually happening!!!'
Gary's play really packs a powerfull punch, the young cast under John's heartfelt…
