The Island

Having emerged from a rehearsal process which has been amazing, provocative and at times difficult.  We now have a great show which needs to be seen by as many people as possible across Wales and beyond. Our opening night had a powerful response in rural Mid Wales and our sellout show in Newport needed extra seats.  The show left people speechless and in tears on both occasions.  Friends in Wales, Manchester and further afield, come and see The…

The Mountaintop

Today sees us start rehearsals for 'The Mountaintop' by Katori Hall, the first time the play has been staged in Wales. We are putting it on at The Other Room, taking the play back to an intimate theatre space where it started life.

Whilst inevitably there is the first day feelings of nervousness- I am also extremely excited. We have an outstanding team of people from our 2 performers, to our creative team and producers, to all of the supportive staff at The Other Room, to the…

Project Fio

So since I finished with NTW a few months back I have been busy quietly thinking about how I takeover the world.....................

Only playing, I have been busy working on various projects and thinking of how my career unfolds over the coming few years.  There is much to ponder and many opportunities that have arisen and many that have sailed by.  However I am keen to understand and investigate my role and place within Arts and Cultural…

2 days to go.......

Ooooops this was supposed to go out 2 days ago!

Been a little while since I last did a blog on my adventure in Japan.

Wow what a week it has been.

So not sure where I left it all last time round.

Let me start by telling you about the weekend and my trip to the newly refurbished Kubukiza National Theatre to watch some Kabuki.  After a 2 hour wait we managed to get some highly sought after…

Cherry Blossoms, Contemporary dance & my first proper Shushi (it was good)!

Day 3 – Press Conference, Spring Blossom and National Ballet Company

Got some much needed sleep.  I managed to go through the day yesterday and stayed awake before crashing and getting my body clock adjusted hopefully – we will see!

So day three in Tokyo and what a great day it was with John doing a press conference alongside the other international partners/ collaborators making up New National Theatre’s international…

My first couple days in Tokyo

So I am writing this blog after realising that no matter how much I toss and turn to get back to sleep, jet lag has got me and my body clock isn't willing to let me be- think tomorrow will be difficult, bring on the coffee!

I arrived on Sunday having left a snowy London Heathrow.  It wasn't as warm as I had hoped, didn't have much joy with sim card at the airport and then thought I had taken the wrong train from the airport to the apartments.  But actually the train was right and I…

My last 'Assembly' as Creative Associate

Two years ago I embarked on a journey from London to be interviewed for the role of Creative Associate at NTW. I returned to the big smoke thinking that I had failed miserably as my interview went quite bad.  The 'Wales' section in my future autobiography was to remain a figment of my imagination.  However surprisingly I was given a reprieve, which I grabbed with both hands.  I arrived at the second interview prepped and ready to give an account of myself which was a proper reflection of me.…

SuperAssembly Winners.......

It has ceased to amaze me how close and quickly the voting on our Assembly projects seem to change.  However once again it went down to the wire and within the last few days and then hours the winning project changed hands a few times.  However we have now got a winner and I want to say a huge well done to proposal 3 and Elen Clampitt who is responsible for it.  Huge commiserations to the other 2 proposals especially proposal 5 and crew up in Wrexham -   well done on the effort.

Now…
