CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
BRIAN (40+)
Brian is an office worker and a family man, living in a Cardiff suburb with his wife Emma and two kids. In an effort to escape the pressures of his life one scorching bank holiday he attempts to build himself one corner of piece in his back garden in the form of a shed. He appears mild-mannered and awkward. The fragility of his state of mind becomes clearer as the play progresses.
EMMA (40+)
Brian’s wife. Strong, energetic and full of life. Mother to Sam and Martha. She's restless, constantly on the move. She’s outspoken and unafraid to challenge Brian.
MR TATUM (30+)

PAT (60+)
Brian’s mother. A grieving widow. She's prone to self-pity, but also has a bitter streak borne from personal pain. Suitable for an actress with a bit of comic flair.
We are looking for more actors to get involved with our Writer's Scratch Night. A workshop style event working with writers who want to practically develop their scripts with actors.

We are presenting the Cardiff premiere of Philip Ridley's beautiful play VINCENT RIVER in the next few weeks, and are in the process of Crowdfunding in order to make this important play happen in Wales.
We still have a way to go, so would really appreciate any sized donations towards our final target. We understand that not everybody is in the position to donate, so if you are interested in project, and fancy helping out an Emerging Theatre company in staging the best possible production of this play, we would equally appreciate just a share of theCrowdfunder link on social media platforms, to continue to spread the word in the last fortnight of Crowdfunding.
We hope you can help us out. Diolch yn fawr, Luke and the Team.

Spaces are still available for the next silent writing retreat.
Zenpensis an exciting new writer’s retreat based in Cardiff City Centre. Adapted from the Writer’s Army workshops lead by the New York playwright Anne Washburn, Zenpens allows writers to concentrate solely on their work in meditative silence.
Zenpens is a one-day silent writers retreat. No phones. No social media. No distractions.
Meeting at 9:45 am for a short debrief and writing exercises, we start working in earnest at 10 am until 1 pm. An hour lunch. Then more silent writing from 2 pm until 6 pm.
The most important rule is that everyone starts and leaves at the same time. It’s a quiet space, but most importantly it’s a space where everyone is working steadily together.
We also ask that people not work during lunch. Periods of not working and switching off completely are vital for overall productivity.
What’s on offer?
A supportive space to begin something new or rehash something old.
New networking possibilities.
Writing exercises to boost creativity.
Free tea and coffee facilities.
How much?
Money collected at the retreat is used to pay for the space and its upkeep. If you can, please pay the suggested donation of £8 or £5 concession.
This sounds right for me, when’s the next one?

The production will be performed in Sherman Theatre’s Studio space as part of their ‘Get It While It’s Hot’ from November 13-17th 2018. The production will operate on a profit share basis and be rehearsed predominantly on Thursdays and Sundays from September.

Brian’s boss. Tall and wears a suit. He initially appears friendly and a little foolish. This is slowly revealed to be a disguise. He is in fact, vain and egotistical. There is something sadistic and primitive about his need to control Brian.
PAT (60+)
Brian’s mother. A grieving widow. She's prone to self-pity, but also has a bitter streak borne from personal pain. Suitable for an actress with a bit of comic flair.

No Boundaries
We are presenting the Cardiff premiere of Philip Ridley's beautiful play VINCENT RIVER in the next few weeks, and are in the process of Crowdfunding in order to make this important play happen in Wales.
We still have a way to go, so would really appreciate any sized donations towards our final target. We understand that not everybody is in the position to donate, so if you are interested in project, and fancy helping out an Emerging Theatre company in staging the best possible production of this play, we would equally appreciate just a share of the Crowdfunder link on social media platforms, to continue to spread the word in the last fortnight of Crowdfunding.
We hope you can help us out. Diolch yn fawr, Luke and the Team.

Spaces are still available for the next silent writing retreat.
Zenpens is an exciting new writer’s retreat based in Cardiff City Centre.
Zenpens will be taking place on the 20th April at the John Dennithorne Room, Quaker Meeting House, 43 Charles Street, Cardiff CF10 2GB.
How can I get in touch?
Spaces are limited, so please email your interest to Paul Stoyle at zenpenssilentretreat@gmail.com or visit https://zenpens-silentwritersretreats.yolasite.com/ for more information.
Best wishes,
Zenpens.
