After.

About half-way through Summer Camp, after a day which had been in every way - I don’t use this word lightly - perfect, I experienced the corresponding crash, the coming-down-to-earth. Nothing specific was wrong. I hadn’t fallen out with anyone. The sun was still shining (for two weeks! in Pembrokeshire!). The ocean was still there. I had a day filled with activities with people I liked and admired.…

Where are we...? Invited thoughts on WalesLab and the future of Artist Development at NTW

I've been spending the last year looking in detail at what WalesLab does, how it supports and how it contributes to the wider arts scene in Wales. As part of that work I recently asked Gerri Moriarty, an experienced facilitator and arts practitioner in to the NTW office to host a day where artists who had run WalesLab projects or been on Summercamp were asked to talk about their experiences and share thoughts on how they would like to see artists development work evolve at…

A few Summer camp impressions.

Because I still haven't figured out a way into a post-summer camp life, here are some of the very few pictures I took. You know, as a memory and a break from the back wall of my neighbours house I keep on staring at.

This is the view from the jetty where it all went down:…

Greetings!

Two of the most powerful ladies at National Theatre Wales, Executive Producer Lisa Maguire and Vice-Chair of the Board Gemma McAvoy kindly agreed to be interviewed by us. Little did they know what we (mainly Llinos) had in store for them...

Here we are chatting with Lisa Maguire…

Finale! Or Intrusion, Contortion and Confusion

My final day in Edinburgh was quite possibly my favourite. I saw some wonderfully varied theatre today, all if it good. So without further ado let’s get on with it.

Things From Before are an LA based performance collective in Edinburgh with an adaption of “The Intruder”, originally by Maurice Maeterlinck. I am unfamiliar with the original text but from what I’ve gathered Things From Before have really worked to make it their own. The text is a one room play about a family waiting as a…

Cultural Activity in Barmouth

I'm new to this community site and just finding my way around. I've posted 3 free poetry events that are all taking place on Monday 18th August (at 11am, 2pm and 7pm) in Barmouth, Gwynedd (2 venues). I'm not sure how people 'see' the posted events. I see they appear on the community home page, but wonder if alerts go out somewhere.

Anyway they are here, if anyone is in the vicinity and can come along or knows someone else who may be to pass on to:…

Tired! Shadows, Satan and Mythical Beasts

Our third day in Edinburgh found Frank and myself a little worse for wear, worn out from trekking from venue to venue and late night shows after only two days. Lord knows how people manage a month. Today we took it a little easier, spacing things out a bit more and making sure e had plenty of time for travel etc. It made sense then that our first show was only round the corner from the hotel.

“Yeti” (pronounced Yet-eye) was performed by Gary from Leeds, a performance poet. Part of the…

Concert For Gaza

Like many people I have watched with  a heavy heart  what has recently unfolded in Gaza over the last few weeks. I have grown astounded at the media’s coverage,  at commentators’  ignorance of the facts and  at the world’s governments turning a blind eye to the deaths,  the endless bombardment of homes indiscriminate bombing of hospitals, UN shelters and schools, the  attacks on civilians with women and children bearing the brunt of Israeli’s immense and indifferent weaponry. It has…

Coney workshop - Ideastap

Sooo on July 31st I went down to London town for a workshop with Coney.

I applied through Ideas-tap and was one of the chosen few who were selected to attend the workshop. It was a great afternoon where Tassos Stevens talked about the immersive experiences that Coney make as well as running a few exercises with us as a group that were great fun. Coney make work that some people describe as games others as immersive theatre but either way they offer agency to the…
