Hi everyone I'm Mikayla McCarthy I'm with The Ghost Room Theatre Company based in Newport.
Currently we are working on a play we have written called An Evening with Poe and are in need of 4 male actors. The play is a sort of murder mystery with our own ghost room spin on things, we like to perform in venues that fit the setting of the play, for example one of our past plays The Dragon's Backbone was set in a tavern and so we performed it in the upstairs of a social club.
The…

On Monday I began my new Job with National Theatre Wales as TEAM Assistant and I've had such a great week. It's been lovely meeting all the team properly and most importantly there is always lots of cake around, which is always good. It's been great in the office where no two days are the same, there is so much going on and can't wait for my visit to Greenman festival next weekend! (fingers crossed it won't…

Day 2 was less eventful, although it was more packed than the previous day. I believe Frank and I have hit cruising speed for the Fringe. I will probably come to regret saying that. Our first show of the day was “Last Christmas” by Dirty Protest. A one man show about returning home after the loss of his father we entered the small, intimate space to find the actor already on stage pacing a few feet from us. This was theatre at its most minimal, stripped down to almost nothing. No props, no…

So the last 2 days I have been taking advantage of the Free Fringe.
I've wanted to put a show on up here for years and hear this is the way to do it.
It's wicked I have seen some crazy tiny intimate shows like "yeti" a poetry show that's a bit bizarre and has loads of little quirks that I think really en capture the spirit of the free fringe.
But then I've also seen some larger shows like "Porky the Poet" and am really impressed with the size of the venues and…

What would the future hold if it was mapped out? What if there as a system

stylish play poses this question in an hour of gripping, tight and original
drama.
Showing in the Demonstration Room at the former Veterinary college (now
Summerhall), The Future for Beginners has underwent radical…

It's been a while since we have put a game on in Cardiff. So we felt that it was about time we looked at doing one. At the moment we are at a really interesting time of developing as a company. We are looking at how the company and it's work is moving and how we want to move in the future. We have decided as part of this development to begin the process of looking at…

The Fringe isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon*. With so much to do and see it’s important to pace yourself. Tuesday morning was fairly relaxed, and mostly involved writing the blog you read yesterday (You did read it, didn’t you?) as our first show wasn’t until 12:10. The show was Baba Brinkman’s “Off The Top” at 266 Canon’s Gait. Now I’m someone who navigates mostly through landmarks and a homing like pigeon ability to go in the general direction of something, skwark at people and demand seed…

We are back from summer camp. I´m back in Berlin, sitting in my room after 12 hours of sleep, still so tired and still buzzing from our 2 weeks of craziness, art, love and everything that´s worse than a party.
What a time we had!
I have so many fond memories of our 2 weeks in Dale that I don´t really know where to begin.
The biggest, greatest and most amazing thing have to be the people I met. Artists from all over the place and from various…
