What are your earliest memories of theatre?

Theatre can be a powerful thing. Lots of people are also shaped by early childhood experiences. What happens when you combine both?

I think it's quite likely a lot of us are shaped by our early theatrical experiences. The other day we asked people on Facebook and Twitter to tell us about their first theatre experiences and we had some great responses.

In the spirit of sharing, I will tell you that I think the first time I ever went to the theatre was to see Aladdin the…

Jeptha WNO, Wales Milennium Centre - Review

Baroque opera is a slightly difficult art form. People find the repetitions tedious, and the plots trite, but I have always thought of baroque music as having an especially simple beauty which a good production can ignite into joy, excitement and profundity. Have I ever witnessed it? Yes. Have I ever witnessed it for the entire duration of a production? Well, no, but I'm certainly willing to gamble on a baroque opera displaying enough good properties to raise my spirits.

The title of the book is called:

“Take Your Seats!” - The Radicalisation of the Southbank and Emerging Directors (watch the video)

Earlier this year I was asked by Circus Space to direct their ensemble graduation show to be performed at the Royal National Theatre’s ‘Watch This Space’ stage on London’s Southbank. When I accepted, I had a lot of ideas that were rooted in Citrus Arts’ work with Wales-based director Philip Mackenzie; and wanted the students to feel that they were performing something sharp and political-looking that represented something about our times.

In between accepting the job and arriving at…
