Being on National Theatre Wales’s TEAM Panel guarantees I'm inundated with thought-provoking events and conferences to represent NTW at, and Casgliad 2015 was no different. At 9am on Saturday 11th April I found myself, along with TEAM coordinator Laura Thomas and fellow panelist Loui-Joe Milne, drinking in the stunning view from Aberystwyth’s Art Centre, ready for a full day of workshopping. Facilitated and curated by YANC members…

Am on the train to Merthyr Tydfil, trying to keep up with my life coaching! Our project with the brilliant Blast Theory - Karen - launched yesterday in the iTunes App Store (Android follows soon), while I'm rehearsing Mother Courage in Merthyr Tydfil. Even for NTW with all our digital work, it's unusual to have a…

We are delighted to announce that we are working on a new show with Sustrans Cymru to celebrate National Bike Day on the 13th June and the development of the Swansea Cycle Way on the old route of the Swansea-Mumbles Railway. It will celebrate the history of the railway, some of the characters you could meet along its route and the great expanse of Swansea Bay - the working title? The Life Cycle of the Bay.

What does opening night feel like for you? I'm sitting here in my home in Chicago. It is 9:18PM CDT and Karen has been available for download since this morning. I'm sitting here wondering if what I am feeling is normal or odd or stupendioulsy lovely. I am most certainly thinking I need a glass of wine.
It has been three years to…

We’re a week and four days into rehearsals and yesterday was the first day we did a full run through of the play and I have to admit it went extremely well, the actors are brilliant, the trolley dancing blew my mind, I laughed & cried.
Our first week has been incredible, beautiful, funny, insightful and thoughtful. We’ve been working through the script one scene at…

The thing about doing a risk assessment is that it makes you assess... risks. Ours were mostly electrical. So today, we re-did the electrics.
And while Gethin was doing that, and Ed reducing the risk of the giant wire fencing ball hanging in…

Hi All!
Today I write my blog about the YANC Casgliad 2015, an event I attended last weekend. First of all I would like to start with the weather and what a great day it was, warm, sunny and such a great view from the Aberystwyth Arts Center!
It was my first time in Aberystwyth, so it was all new to me. I arrived the afternoon before. I had a quick look around the town and the castle on the water front (My favorite place I found) . Such a beautiful town! I can't believe I…

Harps Funeral Directors at the bottom of town by the Labour Club are very respectful of the deceased. In their window they have a picture of the deceased and the date of the funeral and whether donations or flowers are required. The photo of the deceased gets moved along the window until their funeral has been. There are 7 'deceased' currently on display in the front window and there is a set of steps leading up to the platform where the window is so you can take it all in. As Easter has…

The Memory Store is a cabinet of curiosities built to accompany our touring theatre production Lost In The Neuron Forest. The show explored what it meant to have dementia and how identity survives as memories fade away, so as a way of preserving and encouraging the sharing of memories we created the Memory Store through a series of community- based creative…

I'm in 3 of the 4. I sail in on a Tesco trolley in one of them like Titanic. Why the hell did I eat so much quinoa mix and morrocan lamb? I must have gone into starvation mode and now I've eaten about 700 calories in one hit-carb coma.

I'm very lucky with the parking in Merthyr because although its only £3.50 for the WHOLE day, I have one of my lovely cousins living close to Merthyr labour club and he leaves me park on his drive. Sometimes Ri Richards has a lift with me, sometimes Nicola Reynolds and sometimes Gaynor Morgan Rees. We pile out of or into the car and take a lovely walk under the bridge, past Harps, the funeral directors, and we are there at the labour club. So far it hasn't rained. We are loving it.…
