Coriolan/us Hangar 858, RAF St Athans.

Go. This production gives the spectator a chance to witness the power of Shakespeare in unique new ways, and, as with all productions which align themselves to serve his talent, Shakespeare emerges as the glittering star of the evening. Some of Bertold Brecht's adaptation is in there somewhere, in the simplified language of the citizens.

This was my second Shakespeare of the week. As with the Wooster Group's foray into 'Troilus and Cressida', there was a serious attempt to…

Troilus and Cressida - Swan Theatre, Stratford upon Avon

I had, in the past, considered going to New York to see the Wooster Group. I made the commitment to drive back home late at night from the Swan Theatre In Stratford on Avon to save me an air fare. I managed to get one of the last remaining tickets for one of the previews. In a co-production with the Royal Shakespeare Company, they have created a production of Shakespeare’s ‘Troilus and Cressida’, having rehearsed separately for a time, and joining together for final and production…

My first week at National Theatre Wales

Hello everyone,

I have already had the most amazing time with the lovely staff at National Theatre Wales.  I have read many documents and learnt many new things digital, photocopier related and how to load a staple gun.

I have also had my first experience of signing off an invoice for Emergency Tree Rescue Training!

Not only have I had the pleasure of all this but I also experienced the best Shakespearean production in many, many years at Hangar 858 last night.  I am so…

Short line about a small town in the north of The Netherlands. (In preparation of RRRRRiot in Rhayader)

1975. "The new townhall wasn’t there yet of course not. That was still a large lawn and there was a huge tent. A white tent," she said to me but I can not remember for sure. "And here," she continued, "this wasn’t turned into a roundabout. It still was a crossroad, and there stood at each corner a huge tank. Yes four tanks. And helicopters flew over. A lot. "At least," she said. "I remember it as many but I'm not sure if it were."…

Theatre production/design workshop?

Hi community!

I wonder if anyone could help me....

I am looking for a part-time/weekend/evening class/Workshop that will help me learn a little more about theatre design/production. Specifically, lighting and stage designs but if it covers other aspects too such as costume and set then that would be great!

I have already enquired about BTEC and NVQ courses but they seem to be full time. Does anyone know any theatre companies that offer these types of… Continue

Portraits project

Hello,

I'm a painter, and am planning a series of portraits of performers, including actors, for exhibition in 2014. I'm hoping that the NTW Community may help to put me in touch with people who'll become part of the project.

I work from life, in oil on canvas or panel, and sittings take from around three hours. My studio is in Barry, South Wales. Please see sample panel painting (18x23cm) below for an idea of what I do, or go to…

Coriolan/us dress rehearsals

7/08/12 I was lucky enough to be able to watch two dress rehearsals of Coriolan/us.

In the evening was an open dress rehearsal where TEAM members were invited to come along and watch, it was great to see some lovely familiar faces and hear what they thought afterwards.

One comment was - 'EPIC, I never want to watch a show in an actual…

Rhayader + National Theatre Wales + PeerGroup

Met with Sarah Leigh tonight and Matt Ball. Shared a meal in the Elan Valley Lodge and met a group of individuals who are going to love their time in the Elan Valley. Good things will be happening in Rhayader - time to talk to the locals.

Rehabilitation of offenders

Does anyone know any theatre groups currently working within Cardiff prisons, or at least nearby.
Dissertation topic on the above, and am desperately seeking some hands on experience within the field.

If anyone could give me any contacts/emails that would be great!

My first experience of Coriolan/us

Today I arrived at the set of Coriolan/us, I have already been researching and have been marketing the show in the lovely Aberystwyth and now I have ventured down South Wales to continue marketing and working on the show.

I will be working with NTW this week helping with marketing the show and also in front of house, I have already learnt so much from my first day at the Hangar.

On entering the gates of the Hangar I am already in awe of the space, I realise that this will be a…

Coriolan/us Mediacall today

Today thanks to NTW I experienced a mediacall for the first time ever!

I went to the vast and breathtaking hangar in St. Athan where Coriolan/us is taking place this month. Journalists from BBC Wales, ITV Wales and S4C were there to film scenes from the production and interview people involved in it.

I was lucky enough to get a preview of exciting and dynamic scenes from Coriolan/us, while various national news crews filmed them. Then I got to observe and take…

Young Critic's Review - In Water I'm Weightless

In Water I’m Weightless

National Theatre Wales

Wales Millennium Centre, Weston Studio

4th August 2012

“Impairment, gives you an edge – you have to work harder.”

This is certainly true of the ensemble in NTW’s first show to present a cast composed entirely of deaf and disabled performers. In a big “up yours” to all the people who stereotype, patronise and try to hide the differently able, these…

Hi guys, I'm directing a play called 'The Tree of Shoes' for an audience of 7-10 year olds, as the final production of my Masters in Drama at Unviersity Glamorgan. I am seeking an actress to play the part of Welsh Grandma  - needs to have a Welsh accent, but speaks English. I'll be rehearsing the last two weeks of August, the final week of August is the crucial one for this character. Anyone interested?
