One week after first meeting the core group of actors we have found ourselves at the final day of rehearsals. Today’s blog was written by Vivienne Buckley (Director)
A conversation with a security guard/site foreman/estates manager, a bacon roll, a football, another actor, a choreographer, a rave, a discussion about the coast, a pub, 3 glasses, 3 newspapers, cigarettes, lighters, loud music, a photographer, photographs, poses, back to the… Continue
There's been some extraordinary works - seven/maybe more new plays - posted in the compendium of mini-works (in the writers' group) over the last couple of days. Whoever is reading this, please explore the works and get excited/feedback/write another one. Warning: one of the writers claims the work is addictive.

Today's blog is written by Rhys Matthews, co Artistic Director
Today we were joined by another six actors who make up the ensemble of the company. Although we have only had six days to put the piece on it's feet and get a basic shape, both Viv and I are very pleased at the quality of work that is being produced. It is also credit to the 11 actors who have worked so well together and thrown themselves into a speedy process! Although our… Continue

Today’s blog is written by Vivienne Buckley (Director)
The piece is now up and running, after only 5 full days of rehearsing. We ran on Friday, and both Matthew and I were really pleased with the amount of work we had already created. This weekend has seen us really focus on the detail and structure of the scenes containing the core group of actors.
We are all really excited that the rest of the cast will be joining us tomorrow at… Continue

Directors week starts next Wednesday at 2pm with Frozen by Bryony Lavery. Your thoughts on the work to help this final leg of the director mentoring process are really important to us. It would be great to have your feedback on the shows and there will be papers to fill in the foyer. Read all about Living Pictures in The Stage this week. For performance times visit www.shermancymru.co.uk.

This is going to be quite a personal and creative update, compared to the last two, which were a bit like press releases. I’m happy to say that today has been a good and naturally creative day.
My agitation over the last year about how this project might come into being, who to cast, whether we would get funded, and all of the technical detail that became so dauntingly real once we got the green light from ACW, left me with a lot of problem solving and management detail to… Continue
Rehearsal week has arrived! It’s great to be in the rehearsal room in Swansea Metropolitan and to meet the first group of people to work on the project. This week the core group of actors have all assembled with Viv our director and Gemma Thomas our Stage Manager.
After the initial getting to know one another the real work begins. In 7 days we’ll be performing in front of an expectant… Continue

The Bush Theatre London is currently developing bushgreen, a social networking website for people in theatre to connect, collaborate and publish plays in innovative ways. The mission of bushgreen is to connect playwrights with theatre practitioners, plays with producers and to lead and inspire best practice in the putting on of new plays. We are currently looking for 500 test users to be the first to use the site and let us know how it should be developed further.
I am now in the first stages of testing out the RESPOND strand of National Theatre Wales' work and I need some help.
What is the Respond strand?
The respond programme enables us to create new work quickly in response to the urgent, important and interesting news and events that are happening right now. It is also a way that National Theatre Wales can work with a greater and more diverse range of theatre makers whilst providing a space for artistic development for… Continue
I'm writing a piece about mental health in young people for Replay Productions, so I spent last week in Belfast, getting to know a group of teenagers at the New Lodge Youth Centre. And had lots of cooked breakfasts from the cafe at the Spires shopping centre, just down the road from the bus station (£2.80 for five items, or £3.50 for seven plus a glass of orange juice, if you're keeping an eye on the old five a…
A case of the snuffles, or is it Man Flu? A wonky foot left over from graduation at Laban School. 1,000 rather elegantly sexy posters from the printers, that arrived with the promise of a very expensive visit to the post office. A potentially whooping hole in our touring budget. Brilliant management and creative input from Bridie Doyle’s all seeing eye, and a hit the ground running challenge to the cast.
We’re mucking about with an awful lot of second hand clothes, which is… Continue
Rehearsals began today with the core group of actors: Chris Jared (Guildhall Graduate), Rhodri Lewis (RWCMD Graduate), Jason Marc-Williams (GSA Graduate), Rhys Matthews (RADA Graduate) and Kristian Phillips (Bristol Old Vic Graduate)
Day 1 has been really exciting, seeing actors, from a variety of Specialist Colleges, bring different approaches, skills and ideas to the table. Starting to really unpick some of the themes in Thomas’ rich… Continue
