Hi everyone! I have abit of a problem. I am about to do the last year of my university degree in Bangor and one of my modules is script writing. I have to write a welsh language 20 minute play for the tv or theatre and am abit worried. I have bought books but do not know how to start writing one. Can anyone give me in advice?
Thanks alot
Lloyd

Here's what I think I thought of For Mountain Sand and Sea.
Only thing is, despite giving it the 'worst' review of the four productions so far, it has since played on my mind and I think I'll have far more lasting memories of the day than with the others to which I gave broadly positive reviews.
Interesting. What do you think?…

Lines mark out the space. The lines are a map. A map of a location. A map hangs on the wall. Denoting the location of a village, the village housing the location on the floor. And that is as close as I have been so far. I tried to drive there, but you can't. Well you could but you would probably get fined £500 by the military... honestly, you should read the signs... don't stop, do not pass go etc. etc. And so all I have at this stage are the maps. Not just the cartographic kind, for…

Hello Blog World,
Just a quick post to let you all know what ShellShock Theatre are up to this Summer. We're really excited to be off to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to be part of the Forest Fringe's program of events. We'll be spending a week up in Edinburgh creating new material to be part of our 'Don't Call Us, We'll Call You...' project, which was developed as apart of the NTW hosted Forest Fringe Micofestival in Swansea.…

Chapter Arts Centre was full to overflowing with theatre types this morning. Not all had anything to do with NTW, but quite a few did. It was a little overwhelming when I first entered the rehearsal space and saw all of the faces. Mike Pearson led us through the plans for the production, a speech which he must now be very well rehearsed in, having had a number of months of interrogation directed at him on the subject.
I am here to document the process... I am armed…

Firstly, an apology. I know you're not expecting this challenge until tomorrow but tomorrow is a busy day for me so I'm sorry I've had to issue it early. I'm hoping none of you will mind.
So, this week's challenge...
As I'm sure most of you know by now, NTW05 The Beach combines both theatre and gaming. With the challenges so far Bethan has challenged you to create story, Carl too looked at the creative writing side of things. Me, I'm going for pure…

Excellent service... shame about the vegetarian lasagne...
If you are vegetarian, which I am not, it can be very difficult to find a place that serves a vegetarian Sunday lunch. In and around Aberystwyth that is. Which for the vegetarians out there I imagine is a little bit annoying and indicates a lack of empathy on the part of the establishment that you are eating in. As far as I can tell, vegetarians have to choose variously between vegetarian lasagne, mushroom…

I have had quite enough of camping following my trip to Barmouth, so I am sure that you can imagine that Poppy's request to dig the tent out again so quickly is falling on somewhat deliberately deaf ears. It is my friends birthday and he is having a party in Furnace. Which, while not as far as Barmouth, currently feels like it is a very long, long way away. However, she did get an outstanding school report yesterday and she did go to karate for the second time, this morning, even though…

When I arrived in Barmouth a number of people asked whether I would be walking back to Aberystwyth. 'Of course not' I thought, and said. It's not that I couldn't see the logic in this proposition, it was more that the thought of retracing my steps filled me with dread. That same journey that had been filled with so much adventure because of the motivation provided by the destination and the Barmouth show were gone. Places of concrete experience had been created, and that was of course…

Well, we have just finished our first 4 days of rehearsals in the woods down at The Stackpole Centre in Pembrokeshire. The cast assembled in Cardiff on Monday for some fantastic training with Maggie from Disability Arts Cymru (thank you so much, Maggie!)
Already, the performance is starting to take vague shape, and yesterday we "staggered through" Act I... amazing!! The cast are reaching new heights already and the music is sounding beautiful. There is something so much more moving…

As some of you know, I was in Kosovo recently at an event exploring theatre in places of conflict, and the role of National Theatres. I met some great people with exciting things to say, from all over the world. One of the presentations was by Alison Jeffers, a theatre academic originally from Belfast. She talked about what a National Theatre could mean when you are not quite from any one place - not quite British, not quite Irish. She compared her cultural experience with that of the 15…
