Hi all,
Before we all disappear under mountains of presents, love and chocolate, Catherine and I thought you should know about our next Assembly test(Picnic and Respond have fused into one)which will take place on 20th of January 7.30 to 8.45.
Its theme:
Are shops too archaic a concept to survive the next decade?
We'll have experts and opera singing to help us thinking, reflecting, choosing and maybe find solution or devise…

This is my Christmas Tree! My flatmate Alaw and me put it up whilst watching
Gavin and Stacey. We put some chocolate decorations on it and are impressed that there are still a few left as I type.
Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas. Thanks to all of you who have joined this community over the last year and thanks for working with us through this site to make National Theatre Wales the best company we can truly aspire to…

Last week, I went with (above, from left to right) Bethan, Rhiannon and Carl to recce beaches across the North Wales coast. We left Cardiff at 6am and arrived at our first beach, Dinas Dinlle, near Caernarfon.
We then explored the coast of Anglesey and I had a pot noodle for lunch.…

I'm in Pentir just outside Bangor, in a lovely cottage looking up at the mountains (thanks, Rhian), here to take my first set of weather readings for The Weather Factory. I've been doing a lot of driving, taken a lot of photos, stood in a sudden snowstorm in my T-shirt trying to record a description on a wet dictaphone with chattering teeth, written a lot of notes, and had a brilliant conversation with Twm Elias, a lecturer at the Snowdonia National Park study centre and expert of Welsh weather…

Hello all,
Well we started our research for July's beach game with a 2 day recce of North Wales' best beach offerings. December and beaches aren't a natural combination for me but I have to say the shorelines were stunning - if a tad cold! We visited 11 in all but are still undecided about which we'll use - stunning and secluded or on the edge of town? You'll have to wait and see...A very inspirational trip though. This exciting project is underway!

Of course you should never take any notice of reviews: if you pay attention when they say you've done well, it's hard not to pay attention when they say you just shouldn't bother any more. So it is not because I care, or because I take any joy that we get a four-star review right next to Southwark's three-star, but purely in the interest of helping the Sherman shift the handful of tickets remaining for the run that I draw your attention to…

National Theatre Wales is keen to foster new directing talent. We believe that one of the most effective ways to develop as a director is by spending time in the rehearsal room observing and supporting more experienced individuals. Therefore, during our launch year of work, we are offering opportunities for emerging directors to become involved in six of our shows.
Each emerging director will be given an all-in fee of £2,000 (to include any travel and accommodation costs you incur)…

So suddenly we are in the midst of casting three shows! With auditions this week in full swing for The Devil Inside Him, Shelf Life, and A Good Night Out in the Valleys, our upcoming year of productions is starting to feel very real indeed. Very few offers yet, as we in the midst, but I spent the day today with Elen Bowman meeting some fantastic Welsh actors, and felt so exhilarated by the depth and range of talent. We all know there are a lot of good Welsh actors, but to see so many one after…

Hello, while researching the play for next March we (myself, director John and intern Hannah) came across a lot of stories of days out - especially to Barry Island and Porthcawl. There was lots of talk of the miners' fortnight (especially at Trecco) and it brought back memories for me of jumping on a train or bus and heading to the coast as a teenager. I remember going to a Radio One roadhsow in Porthcawl and it must have been around 1984. I can't remember much about it, who was on the bill…
