Just a quick post that there's a page in the current Cardiff Life 'Issue 30 Summer 2009' about the NTW launch party, with some photos from the event.

I came upon this holiday snap in my uncle's facebook account. Since moving back to Wales, the Paskells have all befriended me on Facebook and welcomed me back to the bosom of my hometown... well, they live in Penarth, but I guess that's close enough to Cardiff...
It made me think of Marc Rees' recent road trip around the Welsh coast and his blog on here. How tied we all are as Welsh families to the sea and to the caravan spots that…

Just back from a couple of days that the Living Landscapes conference organised by Mike Pearson and Heike Roms at Aberystwyth University - theatre artists, professors of performance, geographers and choreographers. Hundreds of them. Landscape is HOT! I went to panels about Walking, Building Sites and Art in Forests! It was challenging and inspiring to hear such a range of thinking and discussion as we develop our 'Theatre Map of Wales'. Some of the students at Aberystwyth were doing…

Just saw - no, make that experienced - NDT2 at Wales Millennium Centre last night and WOW! just how many emotions can one be encouraged to experience in one performance - what a thrill!
Gods & Dogs is just pure beauty personified.
Offspring subtly echoes the duality of creation, whereas
Minus 16 shows none of us can deny The Beat! We all left the theatre with a smile imprinted on our hearts last night ...
For those that don't know, NDT2 are sixteen…

After a night shaken about by the wind and a dawn chorus of evil seagulls on the roof, we beat an early retreat from the caravan park in search of a hot breakfast and a wireless connection.
After the disappointment of the Victoria Pier we didn't want to leave north Wales without a visit to Llandudno and the promise of a fully working pier. We were not disappointed. It's in immaculate condition and the glistening silvery towers inspired us to dream up a performative intervention…

As part of the IKEA Cardiff collaboration with the charity AMuse myself and Jennifer Hartley put together a group of people who didn't know each other but had met during various workshops organised by Theatre Versus Oppression in Cardiff. We were going to do a radical reworkling of the morning of the wedding from Blood Wedding. Only it didn't work out like that....
for details of the how the invisible drama really became invisible see Jennifer's very entertaining blog of the event…

After a full hearty Welsh breakfast we rolled down the hill to explore the wonders of Barmouth. It’s a captivating blend of faded Victorian grandeur; amusement arcade awfulness; bric-a-brac shops galore and numerous chapels of all denominations now crudely and unsympathetically converted into Bargain Bin stores one, horrifyingly, placing the till in the pulpit. I could almost hear the generations of Calvanistic Methodist ghosts who’d worshipped in these chapels for a century or more, groaning…

We're launching a new feature called
groups on the National Theatre Wales site today. Here's some of our thinking behind it.
This community now has nearly 500 members from all over Wales and the world. We're a diverse bunch in the theatre scene - we have
writers,
actors, directors, enthusiasts, musicians, other companies, people "formerly known as the audience" and more.
Our aim with this site…

The eagle eyed among you have already spotted a new development on the site. GROUPS (yeah kinda like the thing on the facewhatsit site) is a way for folk with a common interest to share info, ideas, advice. GROUPS will be coming online properly in the next few days, but basically you can join ours, or you can start your own. The official National Theatre Wales groups so far are for ACTORS, WRITERS, CREATIVE PEOPLE and TEAM MEMBERS. And no, you don't have to choose between them, you can have as…

Sian’s chanting worked, the heavens opened and the boat trip was cancelled.
The visit to the island will have to wait but in the meantime here are a few images of the interior we found on the web.
So onwards to Barmouth via Fishguard through horizontal sheets of rain. We stopped for lunch at Melin Tregwynt and met with Mill owners Eifion and Amanda - the Welsh woolen wunder duo who have reinvented the traditional Welsh blanket, making their beautiful new designs (blankets,…
