Yesterday I went to see Black RAT Productions'
A Midsummer Nights Dream. It was an 11am matinee at the Swansea Grand so I set off on the 9.14am train from Cardiff Central. It was an old-school cattle type train; the last time I was on one of these I was crossing to Oldham on the Manchester Victoria to Rochdale service in January 2008. Good times. Only this time, it was a sweltering day and the…

I went to visit the ex-Alcoa aluminium factory with Alan Lane and Ben Eaton from Slung low theatre company.
We wandered through this gargantuan spaces, listening to the fascinating stories of Martin Stephens, who was part of the Alcoa closing team and had, before us and for several months, ambled through the abandoned factory, meeting his sparse security guard colleagues for impressive lunch and tea parties he would cook…

Anyone out there into a bit of high profile exhibitionism - sorry, live public art / performance? Got a cause to promote? Or a show?
Heard of the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square?
I'm currently helping Artichoke (the producing company behind the Sultan's Elephant and Liverpool's Spider) to raise the profile in Wales of Anthony Gormley's One & Other project which they are also producing.
If you've not picked up on it yet here's what it's all…

Hello!
I went to see this show on Thursday and it was very funny and disconcerting! It's a rare opportunity to see a "site specific" performance in Cardiff, so definitely worth a look!
Details are here: http://www.theatre-wales.co.uk/news/newsdetail.asp?newsID=3159
If you can't get through on the phone, just turn up at 7.25pm and you should get in on the door!
Have a good weekend,
Neil.

It's going to rain so come, take shelter and be entertained/moved/disturbed. I'd really value any feedback, too!

This is a rather belated post about a social media powered round-the-world charity fundraising trip I’m planning called

I’m blogging about it here because
John McGrath urged me too! Sorry it’s taken so long, John.
I know John from his days as chairman of the board of
Performing Arts Network and Development Agency (PANDA) of which I’m…

Glender, the winner of this auspicious title, will receive a glamourous, glittering prize - a bottle of our finest bubbly!
So our community has reached 500 and continues to grow. Who will be our 1000th member? And what do you think their prize should be?

The Total Theatre Awards celebrate the best in physical/visual and innovative theatre at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The process consists of a series of conversations between critics, academics, presenters and artists that are unique in the world. I would love some representation from Wales. The first 12 days of assessment generally involve those earlier in their careers and the judges are esteemed professionals with long experience. We don't pay anybody to take part but can promise insight,…
