Scala Prestatyn & The Film Programme!

Am absolutely delighted to say Radio 4's Film Programme will be visiting The Scala Cinema & Arts Centre in Prestatyn next week. They'll be spending time with members of the local community who campaigned for 9 years to make this extraordinary venue possible and will speak to the young film-makers from Ffilm Scala - a film unit run by and for the community.

Bedwas Bites Back: And they need your vote!

We've just had a message from Dennis at Bedwas Working Men's Hall, which was one of the key venues and inspirations for our March production A Good Night Out in the Valleys. They are on the shortlist for a funding opportunity from The People's Millions. Apparently full details are in the Daily Mirror, or you can just vote for them on 08716268115 Sorry not to have more info, but they are a fantastic group of people, and it's a beautiful old hall that has so much potential, so if you can…

Bring The Happy

Soooooooooooooooo as you may or may not know ShellShock Theatre and myself are up in Leeds for Wed 24th and Thur 25th and then return to Swansea to perform "Darth Ravers Discotech" on Sat 27th for the ARTawe launch.

So why are we in Leeds? Well basically there are a group of very cool people called Invisible Flock and they invited ShellShock Theatre, who in turn invited me, to come up and get involved in a project called "Bring The Happy".

Mike Kenny has written a really interesting Blog about children's/young peoples/families(whatever you want to call it) theatre and the lack of new original work.

In light of the Weather Factory and up and coming festive productions it would be interesting to hear what the Welsh theatre community think?…

Don't step on my blue serge suit.

Gwyn Thomas once had a cult-following in the United States, but his work has never been well-known in Britain, even in Wales. Perhaps it is because, while drawing on universal themes, his context was a parochial one; he confined his plots almost entirely to the South Welsh industrial valleys in the early and middle years of the last century. Even within Wales his audience did not extend to the Welsh-speaking heartland, or to many of the more rarified pundits of "Welsh literature". This was… Continue

Dark philosophers

Hello. I went to see Dark P on the press night. What a cracking show. The set was breathtaking, the acting top drawer and the script and direction enthralling and relevent. I was overwhelmed with piquant nostalgia at one point. It has to be said that the National Theatre is doing us proud, innovative without being pretentious, intelligent yet populist and rooted firmly in our soil. How wonderful after all these years of good work being lost in difusion. Unfortunately my night was dampened a…
